AFTERCARE

A complete guide to healing your tattoo!

When we're done with the tattoo I'm going to put on what we call "second skin". This is a clear plaster that you're going to keep on for 6 days.

You can shower with the plaster on but no soaking it (bathing or swimming).

After having the plaster on for a few hours you will notice a build up of fluid underneath the plaster. That is totally normal, no need to worry! That is your blood plasma (and a little bit of excess ink) that your body is excreting. This plasma is what would normally form the scab over a fresh tattoo, but since it isn't exposed to oxygen it still works to heal the tattoo underneath the plaster.

On day 6, gently take the plaster off, wash the tattoo with warm water and PureSoap (or any soap fragrance and colour free). Once you're done gently washing the tattoo, let it air dry for a few minutes and then apply a thin layer of an aqueous cream, working it into the tattoo. Epimax is my personal favourite as it works incredibly and is reasonably priced.

THINGS TO AVOID

1. No soaking the tattoo until it is fully healed

2. No exercise for 14 days, especially the first 6 days while the plaster is on as this could lead to an infection.

3. Avoid the sun as much as possible while the tattoo is healing, thereafter apply SPF when you know you're going to be in the sun
